SEMARANG – Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Prof. Brian Yuliarto, Ph.D., emphasized the importance of quality human resources (HR) who have capacity, professionalism...
This was conveyed by the Minister of Education and Technology when attending the National Conference (Munas) of the All Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM SI) XIX at the Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines), Monday (27/7/2026). The arrival of the Minister of Education and Technology was welcomed by the Director of Polines, Dr. Garup Lambang Goro, S.T., M.T., along with the leadership of Polines.
In his presentation, the Minister of Education and Technology explained that economic development does not only depend on the availability of natural resources (SDA), but also on the quality of human resources. According to him, human resources with integrity are the main capital in building clean governance and public services.
The Minister of Science and Technology also explains the concept of statecraft, namely the ability to manage the country skillfully. He assessed that students' experience in organizations, especially through leadership at BEM, can be a means to train coordination, decision-making and leadership skills.
"Student organization experience is an important learning process to prepare the younger generation to face various national challenges," he said.
In the midst of rapid changes in the global situation, the Minister of Education and Technology encouraged students to continue to maintain a critical attitude and be concerned about various national problems.
"I know that my fellow students are a very critical generation, please continue, because we really need people who are critical, who care about our country," he said.
In addition, the Minister of Education and Technology highlighted the important role of universities in developing research and innovation to strengthen national capacity. Indonesia has abundant natural resources and has the potential to be developed into alternative energy, one of which is through the development of bioethanol from agricultural raw materials.
The development of this innovation is considered to be able to reduce dependence on fossil energy while strengthening national energy security. In this case, universities have a strategic role in producing research and innovation that is able to answer the nation's needs.
Reiterating the importance of integrity, the Minister of Education and Technology advised students to never mortgage this value in life or in carrying out responsibilities.
"My message is one, integrity. Never mortgage integrity because that's the highest price. The highest price of a person is integrity," he said.
Closing his presentation, Minister Brian invited students not only to be observers or convey criticism of various national problems, but also to prepare themselves to be part of the solution.
"Keep thinking critically, little brothers and sisters. There is something missing, fix it, voice it. But what is much more important than that is that you all have to be the main players," he said. ang
