Impactful Diaspora Visits Polines, Fostering World-Class Academic Collaboration

SEMARANG – Politeknik Negeri Semarang (Polines) held the Diaspora Berdampak (Impactful Diaspora) event at the Directorate Building of the Polines Campus on Tuesday (Sept 15, 2026). This event is part of Polines' efforts to strengthen academic collaboration, build the capacity of lecturers and researchers, and encourage the contribution of the diaspora in the development of vocational education.
The Diaspora Berdampak event featured Prof. Dr. Anton Satria Prabuwono from the Department of Computing, Faculty of Science, Management & Computing, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) Malaysia. The program runs from September 14–25, 2026, comprising a series of activities including public lectures, workshops, and capacity-building sessions for lecturers and researchers.
The event was opened by the Director of Polines, Dr. Garup Lambang Goro, S.T., M.T., accompanied by Prof. Dr. Ir. Kurnianingsih, S.T., M.T., the Vice Director for Cooperation, Public Relations, and Information Systems. The event was also attended by all Department Heads and Study Program Coordinators within Polines.
In his remarks, the Director of Polines stated that Diaspora Berdampak serves as a crucial momentum for Polines to expand its academic network while bringing in the knowledge and experience of academics with international track records.
"Diaspora Berdampak is an opportunity for Polines to open broader spaces for collaboration. The presence of Prof. Anton is expected not only to provide new insights for lecturers and students but also to generate concrete cooperation in the fields of education, research, and innovation," he said.
According to him, collaboration with international academics and universities is a vital part of driving Polines to become an increasingly excellent and impactful vocational higher education institution.
"We want every collaboration built to have a tangible impact, both in enhancing human resource capacity and in developing research and innovation that can address the needs of industry and society," he added.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Anton Satria Prabuwono appreciated the opportunity to share his experience and knowledge with the Polines academic community. According to him, collaboration among academics from various institutions is important for generating broader ideas and innovations.
"I see that Polines has excellent potential to continue growing, especially in vocational education. Through collaboration and knowledge exchange, we can collectively build innovations that do not stop within the academic environment but also bring an impact to the industry and society," expressed Prof. Anton.
He also emphasized the importance of building sustainable collaboration, particularly in the rapidly evolving fields of technology and computing.
"Collaboration is not just about sharing knowledge, but how we produce something together. I hope this event becomes the beginning of more concrete cooperation, especially in research development, enhancing lecturer competencies, and technology-based innovation," he concluded.
The Diaspora Berdampak event is expected not to end simply at knowledge-sharing activities but to be followed up through various forms of collaboration, such as joint research development, scientific publications, lecturer capacity building, and technology-based innovation development.
