SEMARANG – Politeknik Negeri Semarang (Polines) once again strengthens the international insight of its students through an International Guest Lecture activity featuring academics and practitioners from three countries: Malaysia, Germany, and Australia.
The International Guest Lecture featured three speakers: Prof. Dr. Ir. Anton Satria Prabuwono, Ph.D., Professor at the Department of Computing, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia; Sverrir Jónsson, Senior Enterprise IT Architect & Technology Consultant as well as SES Senior Expert, Germany; and Dr. Ripon Kumar Chakrabortty, Senior Lecturer from UNSW Canberra, Australia.
The Director of Polines, Dr. Garup Lambang Goro, S.T., M.T., in his opening remarks, stated that this event is an essential part of providing a broader learning experience for students.
“This International Guest Lecture is an excellent opportunity for students to gain direct insights and experience from academics and practitioners with international exposure. We hope that students will not only acquire new knowledge but also be able to view technological developments from a global perspective,” he said.
According to him, international collaboration and networking are crucial components in the development of vocational education. Interaction with academics and practitioners from various countries is expected to broaden students' horizons regarding technological developments, industry demands, and the increasingly dynamic challenges of the professional world.
“Polines students must possess strong competencies, but they also need to have a global mindset. Therefore, forums like this are important to connect students with experiences and perspectives from different countries,” he added.
Over the course of three days, participants received materials and insights from speakers with diverse backgrounds. This event provided varied perspectives for students in understanding technological developments and their practical applications.
The enthusiasm of the participants was reflected in the active involvement of students during the presentation and discussion sessions. Students from the Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Accounting, and Business Administration were given a platform to interact and deepen their understanding of technological issues and trends that are not only national in nature, but also have an international scope.
The International Guest Lecture concluded with a group photo featuring the leadership of Polines, the speakers, and the students. The event then proceeded with the presentation of souvenirs to the guest lecturers as a gesture of appreciation and gratitude for their contributions and the knowledge shared with the academic community of Polines.
